Valentine’s theme colours school activities
Teacher Ms. Foster looks on as Stettler Middle School students do Australian dot-painting work.
This week, we’re proud to announce that we have begun a new semester at SMS and plenty more activities have started along with it.
Ms. Foster has started a club for the kids who wanted to enter her Aussie culture class but couldn’t due to the fact that there is no Aussie culture option this year. She has put only the best part of her class into the club, which is the dot-painting.
The meetings for the club are every Tuesday and Friday in Ms. Foster’s classroom. So far, all they have done is practising the placing of dots on paper, but when the paintings are done each one will be absolutely amazing.
In the month of February, we have a lot planned here at the school, all following a Valentine’s theme. For instance, there will be a Valentine’s dance this Friday, where students will be selling flowers to give to the special people in our lives. We’re getting into the Valentine’s Day spirit with a bake sale being put on by Y-CAT members on Feb. 14 as well.
As if Valentine’s Day wasn’t enough, students will be going to Red Deer’s Canyon Ski Hill tonight and on Feb. 24 for their last ski days of the school year.
But wait, there’s more!
Plans are in place for a student convention and even a special keynote speaker! More details will be revealed in the near future. Stay tuned, because it will be exciting!
February is a very busy month for the students. Report cards came out this past Friday and both students and staff alike are working hard to achieve their goals, as the school year is already halfway over. Parent/teacher interviews will take place tomorrow as well.
The school Reach team has been practising hard under the direction of Mrs. McDonald and Ms. Hunter. They’ll compete in three tournaments on Feb. 16, March 1 and 15. We’re sure they’ll represent our school well. Good luck to the teams!
