The girls had a tonne of fun and now it is time for the boys to enjoy some time at the library, too! Little Boys Night, also called Game Over Junior, is for boys ages five to 11 and is taking place this Friday from 6:15 to 8 p.m.

It’s a night of gaming of all kinds: Nintendo Wii, Xbox and tons of board games. There is no cost for this event, but pre-registration is required. Call the library at 403-742-2292 to register the little man in your life.

Thursday, Feb. 16, is a busy day at the Stettler Public Library. Seniors are welcome to come and spend the afternoon playing games, socializing, learning how to use computers and enjoying coffee and tea during our seniors’ afternoon, which runs from 1 to 3 p.m. There are free Handibus rides to the library, if required. Contact the Handibus at 403-742-5858 to book your ride.

Also on Thursday, Feb. 16, Spine Crackers, our teen book club for ages 13 and up, will meet from 6 to 8 p.m. to ponder the merits of “Sense and Sensibility and Sea Monsters” by Jane Austen and Ben H. Winters. Copies of the book are available at the Stettler Public Library.

On Thursday, March 8, from 6 to 8 p.m., Beach presents a session called “Publishing: Where Do I Start?” She will discuss cover letters, manuscript presentation, adherence to guidelines, the importance of literary journals and appropriate venues for each participant’s work. You must register for this session by Feb. 18 and a (up to) 10-page sample submission must accompany your registration.

These manuscripts will be passed on to Kimmy for her to read prior to the workshop. You may submit manuscripts in print form or you can email them to the library.

The Stettler Public Library is hosting a Scrapbooking Retreat from Feb. 24 to Feb. 26. The retreat is free, but preregistration is necessary as space is limited.
