Local hip-hop dancers step into city spotlight
The Gadsby District Hobby Club is back in business with its monthly supper and cash bingo Saturday, Feb. 18.
On the supper menu is beef on a bun, from 5 to 7 p.m., followed by bingo at 7:30. Remember the loonie pot … try your luck.
The Heers were visited by a bald eagle on Friday. We scrambled for cameras and got several great pictures of him before he flew off.
The Big Knife 4-H Beef Club bottle drive was a success, with a record number of bottles collected in record time.
With the generous donation of Lorisa and Clay Brower’s shop to sort bottles, they filled two trailers, ready for delivery.
Shayla and Keyonna Derr, as well as MacKenzie Hankins, were among the participants in Edmonton on the weekend, taking part in the Street Grove Hip Hop dance workshop.
Global TV was on hand to cover the event, which was featured on the Sunday evening news.
Get-well wishes to my aunt, Jean Hankins, who has been in Red Deer hospital, but is back home as of Saturday.
Happy birthday to Shirley Reynolds, who celebrated on Monday with cake and coffee. Guests were Ethel Baird, Doreen and Harry Martin, and Joe and Maxine Hansel.
Betty Hadwin motored to Forestburg and spent last Tuesday and Wednesday with daughter Margaret and her family.
MaryBeth Baird and her fiance Scott Reimer were home for the weekend, visiting parents Kevin and Diane Baird, as well as grandparents Jim and Ethel Baird.
MaryBeth and Scott are planning an October wedding and make their home in Gibbons, Alta.
Word has come of the passing of Carl Glasier on Dec. 11 at the Camrose hospital, after a lengthy illness. No formal funeral is planned at this time.
Carl was born in 1936 to Doris and Irwin Glasier in Gadsby, where he grew up and took his schooling. He and Isobel also raised their children in Gadsby.
In later years, they moved to Eckville, where he was living at the time of his death. Community sympathies to his sons Johnny in Leslieville, Vance of Camrose and Darren of Camrose, as well as cousins Wayne and Margery Glasier and families of Gadsby.
