Centennial signs show up around town
Residents are asked to look at the new signs popping up around town.
Halkirk is preparing for its centennial in July. Signs are on the community hall, senior centre, village office, curling rink, fire hall, community church and a village logo on the post office.
The new signage comes from a company in Consort.
Winners of a gift bag from the Paintearth adult learning literacy day activities were Elizabeth Williams, Tayah Perry, Cale Neufeld, Abby Musgrove and Jacquie Dietrich. Congrats to all.
The grades 4 to 6 students also have basketball teams and played successful games at home against Christ-King school on Wednesday. Ms. Tracey Soldon is the coach of Halkirk Mother Teresa School.
Floor curling in Galahad last week were Anne Neilson, Elizabeth Rahr, Olga Cox and Rose Koenraadt.
Kathy Muncy and Anne Neilson were recent visitors with Ann Thibault, who resides in Galahad.
Welcome to our community Natasha and Casey Jones and their daughter Jayden.
Irene Schilling had her son Kim and Jana Schilling visiting, as well as grandson Jesse and Jana’s daughter Sam.
Jan and Rose Koenraadt had Rose’s sister Jean and Dennis Kile visiting from Wainwright on Sunday.
Morris and Lorna Schilling and girls returned this week from a holiday in Orlando, Florida. They toured the Kennedy Space Centre, Disney World, visited the Daytona raceway, and took a safari tour of a cattle farm with Angus/Brahma cross cows and their own orange grove.
There was so much to see, but their favourite was swimming with the dolphins at Sea World and putting their feet in the Atlantic Ocean.

The Elks are thrilled to announce that their seafood supper and comedy night has sold out. Sounds like a great evening ahead.
