Banff’s Jan Hudec and Canmore’s Shona Rubens lead a list of 19 ski racers intently focused on contributing to Canada’s medal totals during the 2010 Olympic Winter Games, Alpine Canada Alpin (ACA) announced Wednesday (Jan. 27).

Joining Hudec on the men’s team are Michael Janyk (Whistler), Manuel Osborne-Paradis (Vancouver), Erik Guay (Mont-Tremblant, Que.), Julien Cousineau (Lachute, Que.), Robbie Dixon (Whistler), Jeffrey Frisch (Mont-Tremblant, Que.), Louis-Pierre Helie (Berthierville, Que.), Tyler Nella (Toronto), Ryan Semple (Montreal, Que.), Brad Spence (Calgary), and Trevor White (Calgary).

Meanwhile, Rubens will be joined by Brigitte Acton (Mont-Tremblant, Que.), Emily Brydon (Fernie), Marie-Michele Gagnon (Lac-Etchemin, Que.), Anna Goodman (Pointe-Claire, Que.), Britt Janyk (Whistler), and Erin Mielzynski (Guelph, Ont.).

“I’m super excited to have an opportunity to go again,” said Rubens, a 2006 Olympian. “And I couldn’t be happier to be skiing my best as the Games get closer.”

“We have a strong field of medal contenders and some young athletes competing in their first Olympic Games, trying to get valuable experience,” said ACA chief athletics officer Max Gartner. “There is always plenty of competition in alpine ski racing, but on the men’s speed side particularly, I think we are going to the Games with one of the strongest entries.”
