Red Deer’s Collicutt Centre was overflowing with Grade 5 girls from across the City last week.

Seventeen-year-old, Monique LaForce is probably Red Deer’s best kept secret in the world of volleyball. The graduating Lindsay Thurber student, who has been playing middle for Thurber for the past three years, is looking forward to Aug. 11th, the day she starts her post-secondary career.

Johnny Cynic would say “It’s just a hockey game” when referencing the Triple A Telus Cup Championship game featuring the Red Deer Optimist Rebels and the Phenix du College Esther-Blondin of Quebec.

Last week, Hockey Alberta and Red Deer College officially unveiled a strategic partnership that includes the relocation of Hockey Alberta’s head office to RDC’s main campus.

So much going on in sports these days so I’ll just try to cover as much as possible this week as I give you my random thoughts.
