You may have read, or voted on, the poll question Tuesday. The question was, “Would you consider yourself to be a Canadian Nationalist?”
The suggestion for this question came from a news story titled ‘Survey Measures the “Olympic Effect” on National Pride’. The following excerpt gives the background:
Here at the Advocate, there are several employees who meet each morning for a “coffee” break. Two people, in particular, always sit in the same spot at the same table. Given that they both have much more seniority than me, it would make sense that this practice would be quietly accepted.
But it is merely a break time, and sometimes my adventurous, mischievous zest kicks in, and I like to mix things up a little. After all, everybody needs bumped from their rut once in a while. It keeps one awake and adds variety to life.
I am not a watcher of American Idol. I do not enjoy watching reality TV. I would rather see something more uplifting than always having to pick a winner and a loser.
But this morning at coffee break, the conversation turned to the latest auditions for American Idol, and the performance of General Larry Platt with his original version of Pants on the Ground.
