CALGARY — Police in Calgary say one of three men fatally shot at a restaurant on New Year’s Day was an innocent bystander caught in a gang war.

Keni Su’a, 43, of Calgary, was dining alone at the Bolsa Restaurant when two people came in and opened fire at three others at another table.

Su’a left the restaurant but was confronted by a third suspect and the two from inside and was gunned down.

Deputy Chief Murray Stooke said it is unknown why Su’a, who has no gang ties, was shot.

Also killed were Sanjeev Mann, 22, who police say is a known gang member, and Aaron Bendle, 21.
