ShareWesterner Days midway a scream

It was a tough day at the office for Advocate photographer Dave Olecko, who was assigned to try out this year's slate of rides at Westerner Days on Wednesday.
The famed five-day Red Deer event kicked off Wednesday morning with the traditional parade downtown.
Down at the Westerner grounds, the midway is in full swing with dozens of rides, games and special events to choose from — and you don't have to be a kid to enjoy the action.
The Westerner Days fun will continue through until Sunday.
