Traffic passes a pair of Public Works department street sweepers cleaning 32 Street’s eastbound median lanes Wednesday.

Pickup of the winter’s sanding material is well underway on main thoroughfares and bus routes. Motorists should slow down for the slow-moving machines as well as for temporary lane closures as crews sweep medians and intersection islands.

Once suburban work begins, signs at subdivision entrances and No Parking signs will also be set out on streets at least 12 hours before work begins.

Vehicles left parked on signed streets will be ticketed and towed. Street sweeping will take place from 7 a.m. to 11p.m. Sundays to Fridays. Residents can help the process by sweeping the sidewalks in front of their houses.
