Traffic in the Clearview neighbourhood in Red Deer was shut down Tuesday afternoon by police who were responding to a complaint about a distraught man armed with a gun.

A 28-year-old man was in a garage at a townhouse at 300 Cornett Drive, on the corner of 30th Avenue.

Armed officers with the Red Deer City RCMP Emergency Response Team arrived on the scene at about 3:30 p.m. and soon after the man was arrested.

“The male was taken into custody without incident,” said RCMP Cpl. Kathe DeHeer.

She could not say what type of weapon was found.

A small fire was started in the garage, but fire-medics quickly put it out.

A nearby neighbour, who did not want to be identified, said a young woman and an infant left the townhouse shortly before police arrived.

She said a young couple moved into the townhouse last summer.

“I’ve seen her outside crying a few times. They were both out the other day crying,” the neighbour said.

That kind of stuff doesn't "belong" anywhere as you'd like to say. And who are you to tell people to do a better job? What are you doing as your part of that other then sitting back bitching about stuff.

Anyone with an opinion like KACs should at least know about the meth busts and other criminal activity in clearview,,that part of town is the southside,or should we declare it the north because it has alot of drug houses that have been busted?

This was cry for help, not a drug thing. I'm surprised that not more of this is going on with the working poor in this province and people just trying to stay a float with a family.
