A female driver was killed early Tuesday morning in a two-vehicle crash near Sylvan Lake.

At about 5:45 a.m., the Sylvan Lake RCMP and fire department responded to a collision on Hwy 11, 600 metres west of Hwy 781.

Police say an east-bound Pontiac minivan was struck by a west-bound Dodge truck. The van sustained heavy damage and the lone female occupant suffered fatal injuries.

The lone occupant of the truck was not injured.

Police say blowing snow and a slush-covered road surface were contributing factors in the crash.

The name of the deceased has not been released, pending notification of next-of-kin.

The crash is being investigated by an RCMP collision analyst.
