A woman charged with first-degree murder will remain in custody for more than a month before making her next court appearance.

Carlea Wetheral, 38, of no fixed address, reserved her plea Thursday in Wetaskiwin provincial court.

She was ordered to return to court June 12 on charges of first-degree murder, indignity to a human body and arson to a motor vehicle.

She was charged after Hugh Frank Oswald, 57, a noted Red Deer musician, was discovered dead by Rocky Mountain House firefighters on April 10 about six km north of Hwy 53 on Hwy 22.

When firefighters arrived, they found a vehicle on fire and discovered Oswald’s body inside.

Also charged is Gale Rhonda Oosterhout, 47, of Westerose, who will appear again in Wetaskiwin court on May 13.

She remains in custody charged with accessory after the fact, indignity to a human body and arson to a vehicle.

Let them reserve plea all they want. It gives the police more time to stack up the evidence against them. But it also reflects the cowardice that comprises the nucleus of their character.
