Two women died on Mother’s Day after a head-on collision near Caroline.

The women, age 87 and 59, died after their west-bound van collided with an east-bound car on Hwy 54, about 10 km east of Caroline at about 5:20 p.m.

Rocky Mountain House RCMP Sgt. Chris Matechuk said weather, road condition, and alcohol were not considered factors in the collision.

Police are still investigating the crash.

Four other people were injured. Names of the deceased have not been released.
