Two children killed in crash near Olds

Two little girls, aged two and six, were killed and their mother and brother seriously injured in a two-vehicle collision near Olds on Friday afternoon.

Olds RCMP say the woman, who lives on a farm near Olds, was driving home with her three children when their car collided with an SUV at an intersection near their farm home.

David Olsen was working on the farm when he learned that his 38-year-old wife and their three children had been involved in a crash.

He and his mother, Jane Olsen, both drove to the scene, where David attempted to revive one of his daughters.

Olsen told reporters at the scene that his wife, whose name has not been released, had taken the children into Red Deer to shop for school supplies.

His wife is being treated in Olds for her injuries. Their son, 16, was taken to Foothills Hospital in Calgary for care.
