Shooting threats made against Hobbema RCMP
HOBBEMA — Early Saturday morning the the RCMP Red Deer Operations Control Centre received a call from a suicidal male threatening to shoot RCMP officers in the area of the Hobbema Detachment.
As a result of the threat, the RCMP secured the area surrounding the detachment. The RCMP mobilized the services of the Red Deer and Edmonton Emergency Response Teams, Police Dog Services, RCMP Hostage Negotiators and RCMP officers from Hobbema, Wetaskiwin and Ponoka.
By Saturday afternoon, RCMP officers had located and arrested a male Jamie Warren Omeasoo, 31, of the Samson Reserve has been charged with uttering threats to cause death or bodily harm to peace officers. He was also charged with possession of a firearm while prohibited, possession of a weapon dangerous to the public, unsafe storage of a firearm and possession of an unregistered firearm.
Omeasoo has been remanded in custody and will next appear in court on July 3, 2008.
