Police investigate pair of Thursday grass fires
Police are investigating two fires that appear to have been deliberately set near the Canyon Ski Area on Thursday.
A bale was set a blaze around 6 p.m. in the river valley near the ski resort, said Allan Weiss, fire services manager with the Red Deer County Fire Department.
Earlier that day, at around 12:15 a.m., the fire department was called to a small grass fire in a field near where the other fire was set.
Red Deer Rural RCMP are investigating both fires, but Weiss said he doesn’t believe the two are connected due to their different types and locations.
