Tunnel vision blinds shoppers to choices

Dear Editor:

I think George Brown gave an excellent report on the public meeting regarding branding Ponoka and also with his editorial in last week’s paper.

Small business is very tough in Ponoka and I must admit I did feel a little offended when comments on Ponoka’s limited shopping surfaced. While I certainly agree we do lack in some things, I had to wonder, as I looked around at all the faces at the meeting and after more than 20 years in retail myself, I recognized very few faces I had actually seen in my shop. Maybe sometimes, we are so “tunnel visioned” we haven’t bothered to check out what we do have for retail.

It’s rather sad that I do have to rely on out of towners for the majority of my business.
