Renegade Riders bomb-proof horses
November was fairly busy. Some of the club members took in the 4-H Family Day at Farm Fair on Nov 8. We built candy bouquets, took in the stock dog competition, watched the ranch rodeo had pizza for lunch, last but not least, we were able to tour the different breeds of cattle.
We also held a two-day bomb-proofing clinic with Angie Benson as our clinician. On the first day Angie had us take our horses through many different obstacles laid out in a course.
We had to lead our horses through tires, walk over tarps, walk over a teeter totter bridge, get them to walk over a mattress, and walk through water noodles. Once we had them going over this stuff with no hesitation, we then had to ride our horses through the same obstacle course. It was neat to see what different obstacles the horses each shied at or had no fear doing what was asked of them. We all learned a lot about our own horses. On day 2, we refreshed our horses with the obstacle course in the morning and in the afternoon we had a bit of a competition between us all.
We had to cancel our November club ride, but we went ahead and held a record book/diary workshop so that everyone in our club knows how to fill these out correctly.
The Ponoka 4H Renegade Riders would like to give a huge thank you the community of Ponoka for making our club bottle drive fundraiser a successful one.
