LEDUC — An Alberta woman has pleaded guilty to arson damaging property in a multimillion-dollar fire at an apartment and strip mall complex near Edmonton.

Cheryl Ann Brozny entered the plea Monday at the start of what was to be her preliminary hearing.

A separate charge of arson with disregard for human life was dropped.

The 23-year-old resident of Thorsby, Alta., was seriously burned in the June 12, 2009, blaze at the Prairie Professional Centre in Leduc.

Investigators determined the fire, which caused $4 million in damage, broke out in a unit the woman was staying in.

A judge has ordered a pre-sentencing report for Brozny, who is to return to court Oct 7.
