LETHBRIDGE— An alleged birdnapper and a purloined parrot are now both safely behind bars after an incident in Lethbridge, Alta.

Police received a call that the valuable bird had been stolen from Petland on Monday afternoon.

Staff were able to describe the suspect and a short while later police located the man, on foot and still carrying the parrot, a short distance away.

The bird was transported back to the pet store.

Rudy Randall Gros Ventre Boy, 32, of Cardston, Alta, is charged with one count of possession of stolen property under $5,000.

He’s scheduled to appear in court April 13 to answer to the charge.
