City RCMP are busy identifying the owners of alleged stolen property seized from two males suspected of breaking into vehicles in southeast Red Deer early Tuesday.

Cpl. Kathe DeHeer of city police said police were on routine patrol in the Inglewood subdivision when they spotted the suspects walking with backpacks around 3:30 a.m. Following a brief conversation, police entered into a search and recovered numerous items believed stolen from parked vehicles.

Police seized cordless and hand tools, GPS equipment, cellphones, a computer, binoculars, hunting and fishing gear, a hot plate, purse and wallets, cameras and an mp3 player among other goods.

Some property owners have been identified but police are still searching for the others.

Charges are pending against a 21-year-old man and a 16-year-old boy who both remain in custody.

DeHeer advises that if people don’t want items stolen from their vehicles, they should remove all valuables and lock the vehicle.
