Rimbey Fire and Rescue had a chilly practice in cold-water rescue techniques over the weekend.
After cutting a six-by-six-foot hole through the 24-inch ice at Gull Lake, the rescuers donned special suits to protect themselves from hypothermia.
With spring just around the corner, ice conditions in Central Alberta are expected to deteriorate in weeks ahead.
