New downtown board chosen

The Red Deer Downtown Business Association has chosen the board to guide the organization in 2010.

At the DBA’s annual general meeting on Wednesday, Katherine Bouchard, Davin Kemshead and John Mytz were elected to the board, and Terry Krause re-elected.

Bouchard owns Crop Hair Boutique (formerly La Mane Place), and recently returned to Red Deer after living in Vancouver. Kemshead is a commercial real estate associate with Century 21 Advantage, and a lifetime resident of the city. Mytz is the new general manager of the Red Deer Lodge, with his past experience in the hospitality industry including work at independent, franchised and corporately owned properties.

Krause is a park planner with Alberta Tourism, Parks and Recreation, and has served on the DBA board for the past two years.

Existing members of the DBA board whose terms will continue in 2010 are Al Gamble of Executive Place, Shauna Fisher of La Casa Pergola, Philip Boivin, Mark Poty of Venture Tax and Accounting, Laura Cadrin of La Petite Jaune Fleur, and Jennifer Powell of Alberta Employment and Immigration.

Also returning to the board is Red Deer Councillor Tara Veer, who will remain the city’s representative with the association.

The new board will assume its responsibilities in January, at which time an executive will be chosen.
