Canadians’ dream of owning a cottage or other piece of recreational property just won’t die, regardless of the state of the economy, rising taxes and interest rates, and more stringent mortgage requirements.

MONTREAL — Home buyers can expect more choice and lower prices in the second half of 2010, while sellers can expect fewer offers for their homes, says one of Canada’s leading real estate brokers.

The Canadian economy will boom even stronger than anticipated this year but its expansion will likely quiet somewhat in 2011 as the world economy sees slower growth, according to a global financial watchdog.

One of Canada’s leading real estate companies is forecasting that home prices will remain steady in the second half of 2010, although the number of sales is expected to fall compared with the hot activity early in the year.
