WorleyParsons wins oilsands contract
WorleyParsons Ltd. has won a $250 million contract to develop field facilities for an oilsands project near Fort McMurray, with a portion of the work to be performed at Blackfalds.
The Australian company, which operates in Canada as WorleyParsons Canada Ltd., provides professional services to the energy, resource and complex process industries. Its Canadian construction division, Cord WorleyParsons, has fabrication facilities in Blackfalds Industrial Park.
WorleyParsons announced recently that it has been chosen to perform engineering, procurement, fabrication and construction work for Husky Oil’s Sunrise Energy project northeast of Fort McMurray. It will be responsible for eight steam-assisted gravity drainage well pads, as well as gathering lines and underground pipelines for the field facilities portion of the project.
The company said the modularization work associated with the contract will be done at Blackfalds. It added that the anticipated revenue from the contract, which is expected to be completed by June 2013, is $250 million.
